How were simple buildings and large castles built in the Middle Ages? Which type of equipment was used? Which function was attributed to which building? The exhibition “CAUTION! CONSTRUCTION SITE. Construction and living in the Middle Ages” looks over the shoulders of the architects of the Middle Ages and shows the world of life in villages, towns, castles and monasteries in the border region of Lower Austria and the Czech Republic: Agriculture and the menu back then are examined as well as the household and trade.

The exhibition “CAUTION! CONSTRUCTION SITE. Construction and living in the Middle Ages” is being created as part of the project “I-CULT. International Cultural Platform”. This platform develops exhibitions and educational programmes on the cultural heritage of the border regions in Austria and the Czech Republic. Exhibits from institutions in both countries are being shown in this exhibition.

In parallel, an early medieval church will be constructed in the outdoor archaeological area in 2020.
